Yesterday.....

I awoke this morning with a John Lennon song floating through my mind.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away Now it looks as though thery're here to stay Oh, I believe in yesterday Hmmmmmmm......

I was nearly offended by the only song in his repertoire that I used to like.

As a Christian, the words that bless my heart are THIS Day:

This is the day that the Lord has made Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Yes, when we are believers, we are not exempted from the struggles of life...but we can still rejoice for we believe that THIS day has been made for us and we do not walk it alone.

I have yet to share the meeting IRL of a blogging friend, Nadine. On 10/31/08, Nadine and I met at The Gaylord Texan Resort while I was in Dallas for Setting Boundaries business *YAY! Nadine and Tom have just relocated to the Dallas area--so she agreed to navigate her way to The Gaylord, risk life and sanity on those Texas size freeways...just to meet me! On a side note--Nadine did have a car accident on the way home--thankfully, she (and the other driver) are just fine. In fact, after she was rear-ended...into the cars in front of her...Nadine still entertained friends for dinner that evening at her new home.

While I don't remember the exact details of how we met online, I could fill paragraphs with how she has blessed me as I read her blog, followed her writing career, and enjoyed her mother's heart as she wrote about her family. I have always wondered how a Pastor's wife with such a loving heart could write such suspenseful fiction about mobsters! Turns out, I met this gangsta--writer--and let me just tell you...she's a red hot!

Little did I know, my Washington State blogging friend, has a New York accent! She can turn it on and off for benefit of diaglogue and story! I was so entertained as we spoke face to face that I nearly forgot I was meeting my friend for the very first time.

Can this woman tell a story! Oh--I knew it--for I have read her blog with some regularity for nearly two years. Still, what fun it was to hear her voice with the familiar ring of her written words; the voice of the heart that kept briinging me back to her each blog visit.

Meeting an "old" friend for the very first time is just one of the blessings that would be missed if I linger in the yesterday's of my life. THIS is the day that the LORD has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. Glad for the blessings, glad for the struggles--for I never walk through them alone.
God is always with us and as if that isn't blessing enough--he provides friends to walk alongside us in a very real way!
