My son is in his first serious relationship.  And what a good judge of character he has!  He has known Ashley for a couple of years now, she is the best friend to his cousin.....who lives in Dallas.  Yes, Ashley is a Texas girl!

So what do a Minnesota boy and a Texas girl have in common?  Certainly not the same high school nor the same State!  However, this long distance relationship has it's perks.  In an age of technology, emailing, text messaging and cell phones help stay connected!  They have developed a wonderful friendship which has grown into something very special.

Ashley spent a few days with us at our ranch in Bryson and Sam spent the Easter weekend with her family near Dallas.  I love her Mom~which should be no surprise, for she has raised a wonderful young woman!

If our children have to grow up--it is especially rewarding to see them
happy as they leave the comfort of our arms and step into the clutches of the real world.

Long ago, a friend told me that she was praying for her son's future wife.  Now, that may not seem odd--except that her son was 3 years old.  I can not say that I have prayed that long for Sam's future wife, but since talking with my friend, I began praying for Sam's future wife.   Is it possible that I have spent a decade praying for Ashley?  Only God knows.  What I do know is this:  praying for your children's future spouse isn't a bad idea.  I wish that I could tell you that I have prayed for every one of Sam's relationships~on the way to his marital relationship.  I have not, but today, I will begin~for God has richly blessed my son with a girl named Ashley.

Psalm 32:8 "The LORD says, 'I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.  I will advise you and watch over you'"
Dear Heavenly Father:  I thank you for both of these special gifts.  You have blessed both families so and for that we praise you.  Watch over these children, together and apart, guide them along the best pathway for their life.  Bring just the right people in their path to advise them as you watch over them.  Thank you for your faithfulness,  for your love and for your promise to all who love you.

Show your children, no matter their age, that you love them.  Tell them that you are praying for them and for each person that will come into their path.   Bless them daily by bringing them before the heart of God~He loves them and has promised to be a partner with you in their care.

You are so right...we should show and tell them our love on a daily basis. Also...a good reminder to bless our children daily and to pray for their future husband or wife...May the Lord bless you and keep you today...and may His face shine upon you as well!

I'm so glad that she's someone you approve of.

It's tough when our kids choose poorly (trust me, I know) and it is SUCH a blessing when they choose wisely (trust me, I know!).
