Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for home sweet home! No matter where I travel, there's just no place like home! Still,

I am thankful for the gift of travel! Long ago, as a child, you would have frequently found me sitting on the front stoop of our rented home on a busy avenue in small town America. As I sat on that front stoop, never in a million years did I even wonder where that road went! My alcoholic father had long before lost his drivers license and we could not afford a car. As I watched the cars drive by that front yard, it never occured to me that there was a world outside my own. The scope of my world was limited to the long distance trip to my Grandparents farm, seven miles away. It is with this memory, forever engraved on my mind, that I board an airplane, each and every time we travel, with grateful enthusiasm!

I am thankful for the Spring weather we are having! Even with a mild winter, Spring is grately appreciated in Minnesota!

I am thankful that Heather is at Mayo this week. And, I am thankful for the many bloggers who have come alongside Heather during this medical trial.

I am thankful for family. That same little girl, who long ago sat on her front door steps watching the cars go by, never could have dreamed that she would, one day grow up and have such a wonderful family. I am so grateful that--that blessing did not pass me by!

I am thankful for my husband....who I miss! His business trip began in New York last Friday and when I flew home on Monday evening, he flew on to Atlanta. He, then flew to Orlando last night and I will pick him up at the airport on Friday evening.

Which reminds me....I am so thankful that it is almost Friday!

Have a great....and thankful Thursday!

I grew up much like you did, it seems...My Daddy was an alcoholic, too, and my grandparents' home about 75 miles away was the farthest I ever went from home until I was in high school on school trips. We only made the trip to my grandparents' place twice while I was growing up. That was a MAJOR trip for us.

But, my Daddy, by the grace of God, quit drinking when I was 9 years old and later on was saved at 66 years of age. I know how blessed we were, too.

I'm a homebody, too. I love to go, but I'm always happy to come back HOME.

Love and hugs,

Diane

I can just picture that little girl sitting there. Isn't God good? He had a wonderful plan for you, and He blessed you with things you couldn't even imagine. How like Him!!
Glad you enjoyed your trip and are safely home.

You have a great list of thankfuls. I pray for Heather while at Mayo for the doctors to give her hope and the answers she needs. Thank you for sharing!

P.S. I would just like to see New York at least once in my lifetime. Had tickets once but had to cancel as daughter was sick, but one day we'll make it there. :)
