HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
August 13th holds a very special place in our hearts. August 13, 2005 was the wedding day of our first born, our only daughter, Katie to Eric Iacono. Last summer was filled with wonder and expectation--we were planning a PARTY! What joyfilled memories! On this day in 2006, there is no less wonder and expectation! Eric and Katie have made marriage look so good during their first year; truly, they were made for one another. This makes a parents heart (relax and) rejoice as we release our daughter into the heart of another.
They are both wonderful young adults. They are compassionate, caring, generous in spirit and deeply and jointly focused. During their first year of marriage we have watched as they finished their college careers, began their new jobs, cared for one another and remained an integral part of their two foundational families. We look forward to many more years of wonder and expectation! Grandchildren! Career successes! And, most importantly, watching them nurture their relationship as husband and wife. Yes, we know there will be hard times--there always are. But when you have a safe place to fall, it makes the climbing out just that much easier. What more could a parent want for their beloved children?!?!?
So on the ocassion of their first anniversary, it seems only appropriate that I share the wonder and joy I felt as I wrote one year ago, A Parent's Blessing; even with the passage of time, these words hold our hearts desire for one year, for ten years, for a lifetime of love!
N’er could we have imagined so long ago
How much your hearts would touch our souls
Yes, always through the test of time
You’ve blessed our lives, with joy sublime.
We held you close, we planned, we dreamed
Still, gifts from heaven, God’s plans would deem
Lives far surpassing any parents design
Two hearts joined here, new love entwined.
With joy complete and hearts filled with love,
Spirits full of promise: hope from above,
We bless this union, a love for life
And pray that God bless both husband and wife.
Joy of our life, as you walk side by side
We are not far away; we’re nearby filled with pride
For who you have become and what you always will be
God’s treasured gifts…to your father and me.

What a wonderful support of your children. And what a beautiful poem. Thank you for sharing your joy with us.
Happy Anniversary, Katie and Eric! Would love to make your acquaintance. Thank you, Diane, for another beautiful post. They are blessed to have you on their side.
Good idea - having Grandma over for dinner. Kristen and family just left - total chaos every Sunday dinner, but memories being made. K&A didn't come today. We usually have them all. Now DC will go out and care for his mom and dad's needs in assisted living and the nursing home. We kinda feel like a bologna sandwich sometimes, and we're the meat!
Congratulations to you both!! Beautiful pictures!
There can be nothing better than to know your children have "chosen" the life partner that was meant for them - we have so many fears that we have to face, and that our children have to face alone sometimes too while they are growing up. I pray for my children all the time that their hearts will be prtected and that they will one day marry the one God has set apart for them. I pray the Lords continued blessings over all your lives - and to Eric and Katie: May your lives be bright and sunny, and your children fat and funny - hee!!
I was wasting time....I know... and looking at WFMW posts and stumbled across this one. My husband and I were married on Aug 13th as well! Just in 1994 that's all!
Beautiful pics. Beautiful people.
