TACKLE

It's another snowy day in Minnesota; the kind of snow that makes EVERYTHING difficult to do. Running errands--complicated. Taking the garbage out--wet! Running to the Post Office--dangerous. Forced to sit in my office and look outside at the falling snow, I decided to treat my pouting self to a few moments online. I checked my email and was distracted by a few FaceBook updates. Heading over to Facebook, I discovered a status update by Brandilyn Collins that read, "Homeless Mom and Daughter need help."

I clicked over to the link Brandilyn offered and found a compelling journey, written by a 16 year old Christian girl who is currently sleeping and living in an Oldsmobile with her disabled, widowed mother. Somehow, the 6 inches of snow were no longer a problem.

Katy is blogging about her journey with homelessness. It is compelling; it is a must read.
Titled, Anywhere But Here, her writing touches the readers heart instantly. Although she is 16 years old, she writes with the maturity greater than most. Shoot, I was sitting in my warm house with plenty to eat, complaining about the most recent snowfall.

Can you lend a hand on this Tackle It Tuesday and click over to Anywhere But Here and read Katy and Elizabeth's ongoing story. It is written in real time, it is happening right now. Brandilyn has started a groundswell of support and encouragement for this young girl and her mother....please join in and follow her blog, leave a word of encouragement, offer prayer support, and help in any way you can.

She and her mom are nearby San Jose, California. I am in Minnesota. You may be in Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, or Florida.....but we can extend a hand--offering God's love to two sisters in Christ.

Brandilyn has also begun a donation campaign to help these two afford a motel to sleep in until the government programs become available. You can get more information at her blog, Forensics & Faith. Even if you cannot donate, please lend a hand and bless this young woman by following her blog and encouraging her with a word of encouragement, a blessing, or just a note to let them know they are not alone.

Thank you for tackling this very worthy effort with me.

I love my snow here in Foley. :)
If these ladies are already homeless why should they wait for gov. asst. to kick in. Somethings just don't make sense.

Thank you for mentioning my blog on your blog! The amount of visitors I've had today is astounding. Which is a good thing! :) It's really a blessing.
(The kind of government assistance is just EHC trying to help us find an apartment. It's going very slowly.)
