Wordless Wednesday

(Well, nearly wordless!)

Went to the Post Office yesterday to trackdown the missing contents. With shock and horror, the Postal clerk announced as he was looking at my photo of the delivered WRAP, "Well, I can't imagine how THAT happened! It was probably one of the large machines......"

When I asked him how the person at the end of that large machine, could, after seeing a torn mailer come through without the contents could possibly believe that it was the right thing to do--send the empty wrap to the recipient???????

After some "himming" and "hawing"....the Postal Clerk found Form 1510, lost or destroyed mail, and I filled it out. When I signed the form I asked the Postal Clerk how long he thought this investigation would take.

In all seriousness and with full eye contact, he said, "Knowing the United States Postal Service......I wouldn't hold my breath!"

I'm still trying to figure out how many hands touched this torn wrap, starting with the person at the end of that block long machine, and still delivered it "without content!!!"

It's such a shame "service" in our great country is almost a thing of the past. It's all back to "It's not my job", and just plain not thinking and not caring.

Oh my...I hope they get it resolved quickly!

And...I can see how you wouldn't need to see snow anytime soon. The pictures were taken Feb. 2006...we didn't get enough snow to even play in this year!!

It just boggles the mind - doesn't it? Is there noone who feels they should do their job responsibly any more? I share your frustration. Perhaps a miracle will happen and they will actually find them. I think it's going to take the hand of God to accomplish that. And He can do it!! I pray He does.

What a lousy thing to have happen, Diane. I suspect that clerk was being honest, too when he said don't hold your breath. I just hope they eventually find the books.

I learned my lesson the hard way years ago. I spent hours and hours making a beautiful baby afghan for my new nephew. I took it to the post office and paid first class postage to send it to Alaska but I did not insure it. I also mentioned to the clerk (who was later fired for an unrelated matter) what was in the package. She happened to have a pregnant daughter.

My package never arrived - it simply disappeared. I will never ever send anything of any value at all through the mail again without insuring it for at least the minimum amount. It only cost less than $2 but I guarantee you, if a package is insured, they'll find your contents.

I'm sorry this happened to you. What a shame.
