Getting to know one another

Is this party fun, or what!

I mentioned to a blogging friend how much I have been enjoying this online party--in spite of the fact that my shoulders are now permanently too-close to my ears due to the hours of typing at my laptop! Any of the gifts a shoulder massage? :)

Speaking of gifts, I won! I won! I won! Not only am I collecting great recipes, yes, real recipes that don't include jars or cans, but I won a drawing for a beautiful collection of note cards. Thanks Karla!

Keeping with the theme of 'getting to know one another' let me share just a few random things about me:

* I love the word random
* My house......is a mess!
* I am married (34 years and counting); we have three children and have 'fostered'
21 foster children. We also have an adopted daughter of our heart, Diana,
and have been gifted with three gorgeous granddaughters~!
*I am a non-traditional college student--working on a Graduate degree in Psychology
*I love to travel and will be flying to Marco Island on Friday with my sisters,
Dixie and Lynn and my daughter, Katie, for our first Annual Girl-getaway!
My sister, Lynn, has never flown, never seen the ocean and is so-o-o-o excited!
This is gonna be a fun trip! We will be on the Island of Sun through Tuesday.
*I love to read....and will be finishing my most recent read, Wild Fire, by my favorite author, Nelson Demille! Can't wait!
*I am so glad that you stopped by today....let's keep the party conversation going. Tell us a little bit about yourself: maybe, where is your favorite place to visit when traveling? Do you like to camp? Do you love the beach? How about your favorite vacation destination?

Nice to *meet* you too!!

We LOVE to camp!! I have had to learn to do a lot of guy things due to raising my son on my own. If you had EVER told me that this city girl would love camping...well...I would have just snorted!

I am a reluctant camper in a family of camping enthusiasts, LOL! :) My idea of the perfect vacation involves white sandy beaches, warm breezes, clear blue water and laying in the sun!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

A pleasure to meet you at the Party. You have a fine blog. I'm from Birmingham in England, and have a Star Trek TNG Journal.

I've already met you, but I'll tell you some details about myself that you may not know! I'm short, 5'1" to be exact, and I'm the only grandchild (out of 30 some all together when both sides are added together) that is under 5'5". I HATE foam rubber. If I touch it, my skin crawls. I LOVE Karen Kingsbury books and would love to be able to write like her! Oh yeah, and I'm glad I found your blog a while back because it really encourages me!

I want to come on the girls trip too (I'm whining; does that help?)
Sounds like GREAT fun!

We fostered children for four years until my hubby's job left the state. The little guy in our care right now (2½ mos old) is a kinship placement and we're hoping to adopt him, sweet smilin' chub that he is.

Beautiful blog. St. John is one of my favorite places to vacation, since the majority of the island has been preserved as a national park. It's breathtaking. On the other hand, we love camping. No roughing it. Self-contained campers or fully equipped cabins.
Thanks for your visit to my blog today.
Blessings,
~Toni~

I agree - this is a fantastic party! So much fun!!!

A little about me...I've been married for 8 years & have 2 children. I LOVE to travel and just wish we had the $$ and time to go more often. I LOVE the beach & would have to say my perfect vacation was Disneyland and then on to Laguna Beach! Loved it!

You asked - I LOVE the beach...The place you girls are going, looks awesome :)...Remembering my first flight -- I really enjoyed it :) But now, I don't like flying too much, not sure why not. It is awesome when you break through the clouds.

I didn't know what you fostered 21 children - how cool...

Have a wonderful time on your 'girl's getaway. I know you will have a great time...

Hey! (finally) stopping by for the party!! Thanks for leaving a comment on our blog. :-) We love to travel; both of us lived/grew up overseas so we have a lot of desire to do international traveling! We also love the beach (except I would prefer to rent a condo at the beach rather than a day trip, because I really don't like being in the sun all day like that). We also enjoy camping, although we haven't gone yet since we've been married. We have plans to go this spring. :-)

I had no idea you'd fostered so many children! And you have to know it's making me a little jealous, OK, a LOT, jealous, that you're going to the ocean. Sigh.

Can't wait to hear all about your weekend, hopefully with photos. :-)

Oh, I am so envious!! Sounds like a wonderful girl time. Where is this island?

DC and I hope to go back to Kona for our 35th in December. When's your 35th? We're going to St. Simons Island in Georgia next month - I've never been down there to visit his brother and family, though he's been there a couple of times.
